K9 Search and Rescue Association of Southern Africa

Who We Are

What We Do

K9 SARA is a volunteer organisation who train civilians and their dogs for search and rescue work. K9 SARA is affiliated with various other organisations involved in search and rescue, who work together in order to keep all our skills at the highest standard. This ensures that in the case of an operation requiring our units to assist, we are search ready and deliver a reliable and efficient service.

The unit trains dog-handler teams to qualify in certain search areas to become search ready. Our dogs and handlers train for a variety of missions, ranging from wilderness / mountainous areas to disaster searches, following natural or man-made disasters, to water searches for recently drowned victims.
